ABSTRACT:
Carrier Aggregation technology for broadband access
In LTE-Advanced focus is on higher capacity. The driving force for further development of LTE towards LTE–Advanced - LTE Release 10 was to provide higher bitrates in a cost efficient way and at the same time, completely fulfil the requirements set by ITU for IMT Advanced, also referred to as 4G:
- Increased peak data rate, DL 3 Gbps, UL 1.5 Gbps,
- Higher spectral efficiency, from a maximum of 16 bps/Hz in R8 to 30 bps/Hz in R10,
- Increased number of simultaneously active subscribers,
- Improved performance at cell edges, e.g. for DL 2x2 MIMO at least 2.40 bps/Hz/cell.

The most straightforward way to increase capacity is to add more bandwidth. The main new functionalities introduced in LTE-Advanced are Carrier Aggregation (CA), enhanced use of multi-antenna techniques and mainly to support future 5G (2020).

POVZETEK:
Tehnologija združevanja kanalov za doseganje višje prenosne hitrosti
Fokus LTE-Advanced je na povečanju kapacitete! Bodoče usmeritve razvoja LTE (LTE-Advanced LTE Release 10) naj bi omogočale višje hitrosti prenosa podatkov, cenovno učinkovitost in sočasno dopolnitev zahtev ITU za IMT Advanced, definiranih kot 4G:
- povečanje vršnih vrednosti prenosa podatkov, DL=3 Gbps, UL=1,5 Gbps,
- povečanje spektralne učinkovitosti iz 16 bps/Hz (R8) v 30 bps/Hz (R10),
- povečanje števila istočasnih aktivnih naročnikov,
- izboljšane zmogljivosti robnih pogojev celic, npr. na DL z uporabo 2x2 MIMO do 2,40 bps/Hz/cell.

Glavni poudarek izboljšanja zmogljivosti sistema LTE je na uvajanju nove tehnološke rešitve za LTE-Advanced, ki se imenuje Carrier Aggregation (CA) z dodanimi multi-antenskimi tehnikami, kar je temelj tudi pri uvajanju bodoče generacije 5G (2020)!
