POVZETEK
Z uvedbo tehnologije XGS-PON, ki omogoča hitrosti do 10 Gbps, se povečuje potreba po zmogljivejših omrežjih v domačem okolju, kar omogoča standard Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be). V prispevku bodo predstavljene ključne tehnološke značilnosti Wi-Fi 7 ter njegove prednosti v primerjavi s prejšnjimi generacijami. Izvedene so bile empirične meritve na razdaljah do 120 metrov brez ovir ter primerjalne analize zmogljivosti Wi-Fi 7 v primerjavi z Wi-Fi 6 v različnih tehničnih pogojih tipičnega rezidenčnega objekta. Rezultati ponujajo vpogled v realne zmogljivosti nove tehnologije in njeno primernost za prihodnje širokopasovne storitve.

ABSTRACT
The introduction of XGS-PON technology, enabling speeds of up to 10 Gbps, has increased the demand for high-performance networks in residential environments, which is supported by Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be). This paper presents the key technological features of Wi-Fi 7 and its advantages over previous generations. Empirical measurements were conducted at distances of up to 120 meters without obstacles, along with comparative performance analyses of Wi-Fi 7 versus Wi-Fi 6 under various technical conditions in a typical residential setting. The results provide insights into the real-world capabilities of the new technology and its suitability for future broadband services.
