ABSTRACT
The rapid growth of mobile communication and equally massive advances in technology are moving technology evolution and the world toward a fully connected networked society – where access to information and data shar¬ing are possible anywhere, anytime, by anyone or anything. The latest generation of the mobile communications is the fifth generation, and it is based on the new radio interface, called NR (New Radio). As each new generation brings additional system capabilities, NR has the same characteristics – higher throughput, lower latency, etc. It is expected that NR technology works independent from all earlier standards (no constraints) although NR would also interwork with LTE Advanced.

5G NR will operate in the low and high frequency bands, should support Flexible Physical layer, Spectrum flexibility, Multi-antenna technology (although is not limited to Multi-antenna solutions only), Multi-site co-ordination, D2D communication, Ultra lean design, System Plane and User Plane separation and Access/backhaul integration.

The overall network architecture should support both enhanced MBB well as the new use cases efficiently. It should also integrate 5G cellular and mm-wave accesses as well as the legacy RATs and fixed access to a single system, and provide effortless and seamless mobility when transitioning from one RAT to another.
