Pregled MIMO radarskih sistemov ter njihovih prednosti

POVZETEK
MIMO večvhodne ter večizhodne metode so se sprva pojavile na področju brezžičnih komunikacij, šele kasneje so prodrle na področje raziskav radarjev. V zadnjih letih tako postajajo radarski sistemi vse bolj napredni in lahko s pridom izkoriščajo MIMO tehnologije za izboljšanje detekcije tarč, sledenja tarč ter klasifikacije objektov. MIMO radarski sistemi so se tako razvili kot nova tehnologija, ki sloni na novih metodah procesiranja signalov ter raznolikosti oddanih valovnih oblik. S to predstavitvijo bodo pojasnjeni MIMO radarski sistemi skupaj s primeri procesiranja signalov na podlagi raznolikosti oddanih valovnih oblik. Izpostavljeni bosta dve vrsti sistemov, in sicer MIMO radarski sistemi z večimi ortogonalnimi kanali ter radarski sistemi z večkanalnimi snopi antene (MBRS). Na koncu bo podana še primerjava MIMO radarskih sistemov z MIMO telekomunikacijskimi sistemi.

Overview of MIMO Radar Systems and their Advantages
Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) techniques have largely been introduced and developed by the international Communications community. In recent years, radar systems have become increasingly sophisticated and are now capable of exploiting MIMO solutions to improve target detection, tracking and classification performance. MIMO radar systems have been emerging as a novel technology which can rely on new signal processing techniques based on waveform diversity advancements. In this presentation, MIMO radar systems will be introduced together with examples of MIMO radar signal processing based on waveform diversity. Two types of systems will be compared, namely MIMO radars with multiple orthogonal waveforms and Multiple Beam Radar Systems (MBRS). Finally, MIMO radar systems will be compared to MIMO techniques in communications.
